Owen Puhl Awarded Prestigious National Honor Society Scholarship

Owen Puhl - 2024 National Honor Society Scholarship Semifinalist

Poland, OH – The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Owen Puhl, a high school senior at Poland Seminary and member of NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist.

Since 1946, more than $25 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

In the 100+ years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

About Owen Puhl

At Poland, Owen has taken on leadership roles as president of both Interact Club and Speech and Debate. He helps organize multiple resource drives throughout the school, volunteers weekly at the Poland Way, and serves as a peer tutor at Dobbins. Last year, Owen was selected as one of nine students to join the Ohio Speech and Debate Equity Task Force. In addition to local competitions, he works to design policy changes and judge training for new members.

Poland Seminary High School will host its annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Thursday, February 22 in the Poland Seminary High School Auditorium at 7 p.m.
